Philippine Couriers I've tried

Apr 1, 2015 //
Update 11.13.2017: Shipping rates might not be updated in this blog post, kindly double check rates to their respective official sites. I've removed couriers that don't exist this year 2017, or those I haven't really tried for months.

Hi, everyone! Let me share with you some of my stories working with some of the couriers here in the Philippines. I love online shopping and I also love online selling. Online selling was able to support my bills during college. I remember I need to buy some orders and arrived late because I need to ship them. Thinking of a good courier to ship your goods was very hard. I experience doubts with some of them if they can ship it as soon as possible to my consignee.
It's either I have tried to ship using their services or I received something from them. I hope this could be useful to you guys. If you're planning to set up an online shop and have the option to ship the orders, check out these options I've personally tried.

this might be a long post for you guys. more after the jump...
Let me list them down below:
JRS Express
JRS was my first trusted courier. They also offer cash remittance. They may have small offices to different areas but I honestly say they're very friendly to their customers. Most of their employees aged around 40-60s? I think they're working with JRS since they're young. I remember Ma'am Susan of JRS Antipolo Bayan branch, she was very sweet and accommodating! She provides a lot of supplies. I trust JRS, never lost a parcel!
PICK UP: Yes +P30 to my area, not sure if it varies per area.
SHIPPING & RECEIVING: Next day delivery for express, 3-5 days for Cargo
ISSUES: Cut off and operating hours. Almost all branches have early cut off and operating hours which is almost 5-6pm of the day. Some mall branches have up to 8-9pm operating hours but 4 pm cut off. I can't meet their schedule since I have a day shift. In some branches, they're very strict when it comes to the package weight. They weigh in pounds so anything exceeds means additional cost.
For tracking, you also have to post a wall post to their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/JRS.Express.OfficialFanPage

LBC
What I like about LBC is that they offer Cash Remittance, so whenever I received a payment to a client, I can ship it fuss free since I'm already on the Courier Center. They also have a lot of branches which is accessible to all people. Before, I use LBC when requested by clients, but I'm using it when I'm shipping my Shopee parcels since Shopee is tied up with LBC. With Shopee x LBC I was able to send orders in COD to my clients.
You may also check my store here: https://shopee.ph/the_makeup_ph

Tracking site is also much updated than any other courier.
PICK UP: Yes +P20 to my area, not sure if it varies per area.
SHIPPING & RECEIVING:  next day delivery. I like how they ask for receiving signature lately using a tablet? I'm not sure since my mom just told me about it.
ISSUES: LBC prefers to see original packages meaning no bubble wraps or not yet inside the packaging box. They're really strict when in comes to inspecting which is good for safety reasons.

LBC Trust Issues. I ordered a smartphone from a legit eBay seller. I didn't receive the package, my mom does. When I got home, the package was there, BUT! I found out that the seal was half open! Oh my! :( I don't know if I had to return it to LBC since it's half open, but my excitement for the new phone makes me feel giddy to open it right away. I opened the box and found nothing, no phone, just broken smartphone chargers? :(
I'm so upset knowing that I ordered from a legit eBay seller and yet this is what I received. I sent a letter to their Rizal Branch, no feedback, I called their hotline, they don't know what to do, I reported on their facebook page and yet they BLOCKED my account. I just don't like how they handle after service incidents. I'm so sad for LBC.

LBC X, I experienced my packages stolen by a terminated LBC rider without knowing that he was already terminated. This guy used to pick up my packages several times. I don't know his reasons. My 6 stolen packages can't be retrieved anymore, so it's filed under claims already. Waiting for my refund for my packages for almost a month (lost and reported May 30, 2017)

Xend Express
I'm a Xend user since 2011. My very first pick up was scheduled 7/25/2011 (Yes I've checked my shipment list history).

When I was still studying, I would really prefer to use prefer to use XEND since they offer free pick up in Antipolo which is considered as provincial. It saves more for me since I do not need to go to town proper to ship my products. Xend Express was the first courier I've tried when I have to ship something Internationally. I can add my logo to their waybill if I choose to print it instead of the manual waybill. If you add an email, they offer auto email for the package status to the receiver.
They also have the unli weight for their pouches! as long as it fits the pouch.Insurance up to the first P2,000.00 of the declared value is free of charge. They also have a badge widget:

PS: This widget doesn't update anymore.
ship and send via xend
PICK UP: Yes free of charge but to selected areas only
SHIPPING & RECEIVING: 1-2 days Manila and 2-3 days outside Manila
ISSUES:
  • They do not update my badge when I ship via 7-11 drop off.
  • If you'll be the one to send the package, be sure that you or a legal age person is available at the pickup address during that day.
  • Since 2011, I experience 2 loss of package for Xend Courier, good thing it's insured. They insured the package for around 3 weeks since I shipped the item. They investigate it first that's why it took 3 weeks for the refund.
  • When I checked their website they now partnered with 7-11! Now we can drop our packages to  selected 7-11 branches Drop Off 7-eleven branches, they also partnered with other stores as the drop off neighbor! It's now easier to ship without waiting the rider to arrive (it's really my concern since I'm a busy bee).
  • 06 2017 UPDATE: RTS Issue. I shipped an item last October 2016 and their provincial partner (AP Cargo) delivered a wrong parcel to my consignee. I reported the issue, good thing I was able to sent actual photos of the item prior to shipping. Several weeks, AP Cargo still cannot look for the lost parcel I instructed them to have it for RTS instead since I sent a new item to my consignee using JRS EXPRESS and delivered successfully. After 2 months, AP Cargo found the correct parcel and still pursue to deliver it to my client. After few days, Xend was able to retrieve my package as per email conversation, however until now January 22, 2017, no parcel received even they commit to send the package back to me. update: They was not able to return my original package, but Xend Express already refund the amount.
  • NOV 2017 UPDATE: Xend - 7-11 Stores now partnered with CLIQQ which is also handled by Xend as per 7-11. They offer small pouches only, the green pouch and rates are higher than Xend. As far as I remember, it was P99 for Manila and P139 for Provincial. The rates mentioned if you'll be using 7-11 Drop off for your packages.

RATES: See website link http://new.xend.com.ph/rates/
BRANCHES: Xend specializes in a FREE pick-up with Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal. They do not operate branches for drop off. But, if you would like to drop off your packages, you can drop by their Mandaluyong hub: Fernandez Business Compound 340 Dr. Jose Fernandez St.

Fast Track
I just recently use fast track this year. I only text their rider the same day, I set a cut off before 12 pm. He's always nearby our office to pick packages.
I and my clients are happy with Fastrack service and rates.
PICK UP: Yes free of charge but to selected areas only
SHIPPING & RECEIVING1-2 days Manila and 2-3 days outside Manila
ISSUES: It's hard to follow up via phone call. Tracking in the website updates after the day.
08062015 Update: I experienced a lost package with Fastrack. CAUSE: The delivery guy was robbed during the delivery in his assigned area. It was Manila Area only which should take 1-2 days. Good thing they called me on the 3rd day. Ms. Jen of Fastrack called me to report the incident they ask me for the value of the parcel which was P300 only. I was able to receive the refund after 1 week. That was fast! Thanks Fastrack! :D

black-arrow-express
Black Arrow Express
My feedback for Black Arrow Express is based on how I use the courier in Shopee App for buying and selling. It's the system integrated courier for my account.

PICK UP: Yes
SHIPPING & RECEIVING: 1-3 days normally, but expect delays during Holiday seasons, take 5-10 days.
ISSUES:  Deliveries for me doesn't took too long. However when I ship my items via Shopee, I noticed that those 5-10 days delivery to clients, I expected that they have stayed in the delivery hub for almost 3 days, I immediately take action by getting in touch with them, send email or call.
RATES: Their rates are different with Shopee and if you will ship directly to Black Arrow. The Shopee app have shipping promos depending on total amount of orders.
Anwyay, if you are planning to ship items directly to Black Arrow, I request a copy of their rates below:

BRANCHES: They have a HQ in Antipolo near Ynares Center
WEBSITE: http://www.blackarrow.express/

Choosing the best courier depends on different criteria needs of the seller and the receiver. Do you consider: drop off location, pick up location for receivers, fast shipping, low-cost rates, credibility, insurance?

Delay issues for the following reasons:
  • Consignee is not available at the address specified.
  • Incomplete delivery details - it would be better if consignee can include a nearby establishment if the area was very difficult to find.
  • Package was suspicious or prohibited items
  • Holidays
  • Acts of God, war or rebellion
Anyway, special announcements are usually posted on their website/social media sites
So far here's the list. I hope you guys especially people who love to transact online see the differences! :)

    3. If they already reported it as lost package and already asked for the item's cost, they can no longer retrieve it. They try their best to locate packages before reporting it as lost package to the sender/consignee.

    4. You're right. They asked me for the cost of the items already and told me they will refund me via cheque. I was worried that they won't refund me but they did take my case seriously and acted on it at once. Hay. I can't believe someone took interest in my package that contains baby diapers!!!

  6. Upshift Express was reliable not until this past transactions I had with them.. i booked for same day delivery And asked me to pay P150 but they delivered it the next day which only cost P80.. No refund happened.. And last week I booked for cash on delivery, they say you'll get the money they collected from your client the next business day but until now I still havent received any single payment from the 2 transactions of COD's.. They deleted the comment I left on their instagram account and I saw one complaining on their fb page that she havent received the payment as well for COD dated aug 11,2015.and that comment got deleted as well after an hour. I texted them several times for follolw ups and got this msg saying they already deposited the money, but when I checked my bank account theres no log/deposit received from Upshift. Never use Upshift when it comes to COD's..

  7. Hi sis,i'm new with online selling..and ur blog helps me a lot .however I don't know what courier I will be transacting if I will send my package to hongkong and U.S.Is there gonna be a problem if it is liquid like facial toners?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi I'm not sure with facial toners. It would be better if you can contact the courier para your concerns would be direct to them.

For international shipping, I tried using XEND. I availed the PREMIUM REGISTERED MAIL (POSTAL) - 7 to 15 business days. Successful naman nareceive ni client after 10 days.

Senders should also declare items inside the package. The one might be helpful for you: http://www.hongkongpost.hk/eng/publications/notices/2013/20130830c/index.htm

Important: You must also check whether the receiving country accepts your item, may standards kasi other countries about this, baka mahold lang sa customs and hindi mareceive ni client mo yung item if ever not accepted sa country nila - Try to call DHL or FEDEX about this since they're known in international shipping :)

sell what you love and have time to post or share your item online in a daily basis. For starters, you can try first with your friends, and send them a link like your instagram acct example para they can view your items on sale 😊

  9. Hello, Glenda!

Been an Upshift patron since I opened my shop last March. I had several experiences horrible experiences with them (i.e. damaged item, delayed deliveries). For the damaged item, I was able to claim the insurance for my client. It took a month for them to process, but I'm just thankful I got partial refund. Delayed deliveries have been my nightmare. Would you believe provincial deliveries arrive first than NCR deliveries? My favorite rider already resigned and rumor has it a lot of riders aren't satisfied with Upshift anymore. My theory re: delayed deliveries is that Upshift doesn't have enough riders. Hence, the crappy service.

With this, I am open to the possibilities of trying other couriers. You talk highly about Xend and Fastrack. But please help me decide which courier to pick. Can you share which of the two couriers is more reliable? If you could pick between Xend and Fastrack, which courier would it be?

Looking forward to your response. Thank you! :D

    1. Hi Liam,

I understand where you're coming from right now. I also experienced that before.

Currently, I'm very happy with Fastrack. I actually do not follow up my parcels after 2-3 days to the courier, because it's one of the downside of Fastrack, they have slow response when it comes to delayed packages - However, I didn't experience delayed packages from them except during Typhoons which I know affects all other couriers as well. I just relay to their online tracking, instead of sending sms to their tracking cp hotline.

As a receiver, okay sakin Xend so far. Haven't tried shipping parcels to them.

I pick up items in Ayala and Greenhills area.
I'm not sure for other areas if okay din riders ni Fastrack.

Please let me know your feedback once you switch to Fastrack.
Also if it's the first time you scheduled a pick up, get the number of the rider. :)

    2. Thank you so much for responding, Glenda. Yup, I'll get back to you about Fastrack in my area (QC North) once I've tried their service. I am hopeful they will be more reliable than my previous courier. Once again, thank you! :)

    3. Hello, Glenda! Been using Fastrack since I posted here last Oct 2015. So far, they're okay. I experienced some hooplah during the peak season, but those are forgiveable instances. Thank you so much for your recommendation! :)

    5. Hello, Glenda (again haha)!

I will be shifting to Xend starting my next batch of orders. Fastrack's new [provincial] rates are very expensive (especially the own package rates). :(

    6. Hi Liam again ^_^
Yup, super laki ng inadjust nila for prov areas :( can't afford na ng buyers huhu. Right now I'm sticking with JRS.

    7. I might try Xend for provincial shipping. I need to know if Xend allows putting poster tubes in pouches and how much would the cost be. Sigh! Hassle! Anyway, let me know how it goes for you with JRS. Thanks! ^_^

    8. I choose Xend for my online selling. So far i have no problem with them. Mas mura kesa Fast Track. For provincial, 130 sa Fast Track while sa Xend, 99 lang. Very effecient.

    9. Hi Anon, I haven't updated these yet since most couriers lately changed their tie up partners for provincial deliveries as well as their rates. Wasn't able to monitor them anymore. :)

  10. I'm using LRC Express now for my online shop. I've tried their service for Metro Manila deliveries and so far I've got no problems with them. I still use Xend for provincial deliveries though since their rates are easier to remember. My rider from LRC Express also used to work for Xend and Philfox so he knows our place from way back. :)

    1. Hi Jing,
They have xend pouches. They will only accept parcels that can fit inside the L/XL pouch. However, I also experienced that a branch doesn't have a L pouch stock, they tagged my parcel under XL pouch. :(

May pouch naman na po ako and I always print my own waybills.

  17. Hi Glenda, I realised your blog is for shipping from the Philippines. Any idea which courier is the best for shipping to the Phillipines (from Australia)? LBC rates seen the most reasonable but it's $60 (I think 2000 pesos approx) and from their no insurance and your experience in reluctant to use them. However FedEx and DHL cost $150-195 :(. Which is like 6000 pesos. Holy moly. It's an Xmas gift so I'm not looking to spend a fortune if possible.

    1. For overseas, I tried FEDEX from Canada to Philippines, took 4 days to ship straight to door step.

Local post office might take more than a month to be delivered, but its cheaper, I tried ordering Korean Goods from Korea, Shipping costs aroung Php 300 + Post Office Charge P100 but it took me wait 45 days.

LBC is fine, it happened once but never again with my current LOCAL orders. Haven't tried LBC for international orders to Philippines.

If its a Christmas Gift, I would suggest go for Fedex/DHL/2GO. But if receiver is willing to wait, try local post office (AUSPOST).

IMO, SHIPPING IS ALWAYS AT RISK, So its better to get items insured :) Happy Holidays!
